Introducing Envirosun TS and THX Solar Water Heaters

Envirosun’s TS and THX product lines represent advanced solar water heating solutions designed to deliver reliable, energy-efficient hot water tailored for varied climates. The TS range features thermosiphon systems with roof-mounted cylinders and panels, offering a simple, highly efficient design ideal for most homes. The THX line is a closed-circuit glycol system built specifically for frost-prone or colder regions, providing superior performance even in sub-zero temperatures.

Engineered for Durability and Efficiency

Both TS and THX systems use premium materials such as high-grade stainless steel tanks and robust solar collectors with innovative absorber coatings. This ensures long life, high solar absorption, and excellent heat retention. The THX system uses a glycol fluid loop to protect against freezing, making it perfect for colder or more challenging environments.

Flexible and Reliable Hot Water Solutions

To guarantee a continuous hot water supply regardless of weather or demand, both systems can be paired with electric or gas boosters. These boosters operate only as needed, maximising the solar contribution and reducing energy consumption. Whether in temperate or frost-prone areas, the TS and THX ranges provide efficient, sustainable hot water solutions tailored to your needs. The Envirosun solar TS and THX are Closed-Circuit Glycol Solar Hot Water Systems to provide the benefits of solar water heating in frost prone regions.

Superior Stainless Steel Cylinder

The Envirosun TS Plus solar water heater features a roof-mounted cylinder made from high-grade 444 stainless steel, imported from Europe for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance. This material offers longer life expectancy compared to traditional stainless steels, thanks to the addition of molybdenum and chromium, making it highly resistant to pitting and corrosion at elevated temperatures. The cylinder is lightweight yet strong, providing significant lifecycle advantages.

Efficient Solar Collectors

This system includes two high solar absorption collector panels available in 4m² and 5m² sizes—about 20% larger than most competing solar hot water systems. The collectors use black chrome absorber plates coated through a two-stage electroplating process to maximise solar radiation absorption and minimise heat loss. Toughened, low-iron solar glass protects the panels while allowing maximum sunlight transmission to boost efficiency.

Advanced Insulation

Keeping heat inside the storage tank is vital for reducing energy loss and operating costs. Envirosun uses pressure-injected polyurethane foam insulation, which expands to fill all gaps and creates an airtight, closed-cell barrier. This insulation reduces heat loss by preventing conduction, convection, and condensation, ensuring hot water stays hotter for longer and saving you money on energy bills.

Reliable Booster Options

To guarantee a constant hot water supply in all weather conditions or periods of high demand, Envirosun offers optional electric and gas boosters. Electric boosters heat water in the tank’s upper half only, maintaining solar gain in the bottom half, while gas boosters provide continuous flow heating when necessary. Both boosters work in backup mode only, supporting the solar system and maximising energy savings.

The THX Plus

The Envirosun THX Plus is a confined glycol solar system that is ideal for places with sub-zero winter night temperatures, frequent frosts, and, in some situations, snow. It’s also a better option in locations where the water quality isn’t quite up to par. This technique indirectly transfers the absorbed energy to the water using the highly efficient heat transmitting properties of a particular antifreeze fluid called Glycol. The water in the storage tank does not flow through the solar collectors in the Envirosun THX Plus solar hot water system; instead, a glycol fluid is circulated from the solar panels through a “jacket” wrapped around the hot water storage cylinder.

Like the Envirosun TS Plus, the Envirosun THX Plus glycol solar hot water system has been officially certified. It has a greater STC rating than any other brand of the same system type, which speaks for itself.

Additional Benefits

Envirosun solar hot water systems come with electric stimulants that can also be supplemented with natural or LPG gas boosters to ensure that enough hot water is available even in the worst weather conditions or when demand for hot water is high. Our storage tanks have electric components, and instantaneous gas heaters can be placed in-line from our systems’ outlets. Both choices maximise the quantity of solar energy captured while only using the auxiliary as a backup or booster.

Envirosun solar hot water cylinders provide the benefits of solar water heating, by harnessing the sun’s energy and converting it into hot water, a solar heater reduces your household’s greenhouse gas emissions, saves you money on energy bills and adds value to your home. Envirosun takes these benefits one step further, with a real commitment to the environment and to you.

Features of the TS system:

  • Tank and collectors roof-mounted as a single, integrated unit
  • Maximum solar efficiency with no power input
  • Technologically-advanced safety and control systems
  • Closed circuit for maximum solar collector freeze and fouling protection (THX only)
  • Superior durability, reliability and cost-effectiveness

Thermo-siphon flow is a natural process that drives the weather, currents in the ocean and water heated in a pot. It occurs as a result of the density difference between warm and cool water – warm-water, because it is less dense, naturally rises and displaces denser cool-water. The same process drives both the TS and THX solar water heaters.

The storage tank sits on the roof immediately above and nestled against the solar collectors. This reduces the amount of pipework between the tanks and collectors and keeps heat loss down. It also means that as fluid is heated in the solar collectors, it can naturally rise up to the cooler storage tank. Provided the fluid in the collectors is hotter than the base of the storage tank, circulation continues. As the collector temperature approaches that of the tank, circulation stops, automatically. The whole process occurs without the need for any external power to operate pumps or valves – and the flow is naturally optimised.

With the TS systems, hot water from the collectors flows to the middle of the storage tank, and displaces cooler water lying in the bottom of the tank. This in turn flows down into the collectors to be heated. For the THX system, the hot collector fluid enters the jacket chamber around the storage tank, transfers its heat to the water within the tank and returns to the solar collectors for reheating.
